Bali Photo Diary 3

Ancient Water Feature outside the temple.

Remember on the first post that I missed out on Taman Ayun Temple?
Well on the second last day of the trip,
I stood outside the temple for 10 minutes and left before it started to pour again.
Since I didn't get a chance to get a full 360 degree view of the temple, it'll be on my list for my next visit!

Well the plan for the day was to spend the evening in Tanah Lot as it's famous for the Sunset.
But my tour guide warned me about the amount of 'tourists' that will disallow me from taking nice pictures and of course, TRAFFIC JAM + RAIN.
Hence, we left an hour early, spent 10 minutes in Taman Ayun Temple, had a short tea break along the way before arriving at Tanah Lot.

Tanah Lot (A temple by the sea) Zoomed right in hence there's not much people in the pic.

Klepon
The view at Tanah Lot was magnificent but I couldn't be more exited when I saw these Klepon!
Here are some information about them.
The melted palm sugar bursts in my mouth (when I bite them). YUM YUM!
My family calls it Coconut Bomb.

Here's how it looks like with coconut shavings.

The woman that sells it happily posed for a picture! :)

Wet paper flowers.

This young man's selling little plastic birds that I used to play when I was little.
It felt good to think about my 'childhood' back in the days. :)
Bought some for my younger siblings.
This is how it looked like opened. It can fly pretty far like a kite only with no strings attached!
After that we decided to get something to eat around Tanah Lot.
(THE MOST EXPENSIVE MEAL IN THE ENTIRE TRIP!)
Well, gotta pay for that VIEW again. LOLS!
Good old steamed rice.
Another giant coconut to drink!

Garlic Prawns and Kang kung ( Vegetables)

Sweet and Sour Fish.

Sat opposite this view. Remember the view yesterday?

Up closed.
Part of the reason it cost so much was because it was calculated per gram not per dish plus the 20% tax that we couldn't seem to avoid.

Back to the villa.
We had a full body massage each and then dinner at the Villa. (So much food that day!)
Slept with a tummy full of yummy-ness and had late breakfast the next day.
Night View at the Restaurant in the Villa.

Bread and Butter for appetizer

Spring rolls with fresh vegetables for Entree (the portion was huge and I was already full!)

Main dish- Chicken satay with rice and prawn cracker.

Desserts- Coconut Wrap + Vanilla ice-cream in caramel sauce.

Soon I'm going to share with you some pictures I took of the villa in Seminyak, Bali.
Who wouldn't love to have room service twice in a day?
Stay tuned!
:)

Bali Photo Diary 2

Went for green tea latte and had some fast food before heading out to Ubud on the second day of the trip.
Bought some coffee cups to use at work and received some free drinks! *yayers!*
Starbucks coffee are really VERY different than the ones that I usually get here.
They should consider bringing Starbucks into Australia. :)
Oh and I compared prices of some products like O.P.I nail polish and Croc shoes.
Turned out that it's cheaper to get them in Australia :)
Worried about the weather as usual and had to hurry up to visit everything before the sky decided to rain again!

Root Beer Float, Curly Fries and Fried Golden Chicken! (Had A&W everyday!)
Drove around and visited places like Gold and Silversmith, wood carving, traditional Balinese house and Coffee Luwak which is quite different from the normal coffee.
Spent most of the late evening (before it started raining again) in Goa Gajah (elephant cave) and get cheated by the locals!
I thought the guy was so kind he gave us free tour around the place.
Walked us through the streams and stairs but in the end he said 'give me something'.
*Speechless*

This is the entrance to the elephant cave.
It's a tiny little cave that Majapahit (read about him in History Class back in Malaysia) and his people did their prayers.

Rocks that was suppose to be a big Buddha Statue.

The rare and precious orange dwarf coconut.

Before Goa Gajah I went for lunch at a place so magnificent I didn't want to leave.
Sat opposite the paddy fields breathing in the fresh air, moments after that IT RAINED AGAIN!
Joni Resto in Ubud
I had their famous crispy duck for lunch + 20% tax. Gotta pay for that view!

Went back to the Villa for a swim and then dinner.
Will update again tomorrow.
:)

Stay tuned.

Bali Photo Diary 1

Here are some pictures that I want to share with you of my trip to Bali, Depansar.
It's my second time there and everything has changed since. (I was only 7 back then hehe!)
Kuta Beach was quiet and not as busy (major traffic jam!) as it is now.
The people there has super pro driving skills.
Roads are half the size of Perth's and they still manage to make it a two way road! *faints*
What makes it worst for me, considering that I'm not the best driver in the world is, the amount of motorbikes on the road that 'swoof' past me every second- I have to keep telling myself that I'm in ASIA.
I'm from Asia too but everything here's really different from where I came from.
The weather did not helped at all (monsoon season)- rained rained rained x100000 times.
How am I suppose to walk around and take nice pictures? =.=''

Anyway, back to the topic.
First stop in Bali is Jatiluwih and Bedugul where it's famous for their golden and green (in December) rice terrace aka. paddy fields.

Then we went to Art Market (too busy shopping hence, no pictures. hehe!) and stopped by Lake Bratan where it started pouring rain.
Rented an umbrella because the rain was too heavy I couldn't open our eyes (I AM SERIOUS!)
Foggy mountains surrounding the Lake.
Some colors to cheer me up from the moody weather!
Then, it's lunch time at Metari Restaurant.
Buffet lunch that charges 20% tax!
Sigh.

Chicken Satay, Fried Noodles, Fried Rice, Omelet, Fried Chicken, Spring Rolls, Vegetables and Coconut Chicken.

Big Fat Fresh Coconut Juice yum yum yum. :) Something I can't get in Perth!
Desserts! Pandan Cake and Fried Banana with pudding.

Cancelled the tour to Monkey Temple, Botanical Garden, Taman Ayun Temple and Butterfly farm because it was raining and some areas were flooded.

Slept through the journey back to the Villa (for an hour thanks to the traffic + rain.)

Will update tomorrow on my second and third day there!
:)
